Dior showed their couture collection on the first day of Paris Couture week. The first part showed disco era outfits with cubes and balls head pieces, followed by flowy, maxi dresses with touches of colors and the last part are the layered ball gowns paired with stars and moon head pieces. When I see the first few pictures I was hoping that at least a few pieces in the last part will be amazing, but no. The collection was disastrous.

Craftmanship and cutting that screams couture seems to be very inadequate, as many of the pieces could have passed as ready-to-wear. The collection as a whole is lack of cohesiveness, and uninspired I would say. Shoes are unacceptable.

Karlie Kloss closed the show and Bill Gayten and Susanna Venegas, the studio director and his first assistant, took a final bow. It's ironic, to me she looked like a clumsy sad clown. That's it for the first time in 15 years that John Galliano didn't design for Dior couture.

ReplyDeleteand that is all.
And the silly head pieces!
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at Dior Couture, but not this time. May be hiring John Galiano again is one of the best, (if he wants).
