The first look is disastrous, her military-style jackets with Santa Claus-like, extra-wide belts just don't work for me. It's far below my expectation, honestly. I used to be so psyched when it comes to anything Céline, almost like a fangirl. But knowing that this season is just reminisces of previous shows from Yohji Yamamoto and Prada (read here), I have a feeling that you too, see this collection not as outstanding.
Whether it's high waisted, or right at the waistline or low waist, or pair it with two more extra wide ankle straps I don't care but I just expect something a way more sophisticated and classy minimalist.
The leather tops are still to die for though, and the pants too, very unusual how they press it or are those seams? To be fair, here's the only one look that I like, from head to toe.
Shoes are horrific. You know I'm going to diss the shoes, anyway. From the shape, to the arch of the heel, to the attached extra-wide buckles, these are really very unpleasant or rather offensive to view. In other words, eyesore. Oh yes, and speaking of Santa belts, Christmas is near!

Exactly how I feel!! Neither the belts nor the shoes work for me, they are just faux pas. Even the "best" look is just mediocre. Let's see how those editors and "high-profile" consumers wear them next season. Ciao!
ReplyDeleteI love this post and I'm so happy you were brave enough to state the things you didn't like about a collection. It's nice to hear some constructive criticism over a designer or a show as opposed to the raves you normally hear about how fabulous a collection was. I totally agree; I think the Santa belts are very overpowering and the heels are truly disastrous.

even pretty models can't pull em off, let alone "regular people"..
