Introducing: Poise24

I'm excited to let you know that I just launched my clothing line Poise24, on July 24th, which was two days ago. Anyway, I'd like to thank you guys for the amazing response and never-ending support. I can finally reveal the rest of the campaign images I used for the store website.







Some of you asked, why 24? The reason is that I took the word Poise from my blog Poisepolish, of course, but then I thought why not add some numbers behind it? Then I chose 24. Not only because it's my date of birth, also because the word poise has a pretty good meaning, and 24 here stands for 24 hours in a day. Thus it literally means stay poised, 24/7.

Is Call Me Maybe our fashion song of the year?

First, it was Rebecca Minkoff, her baby, Hilary Rhoda and Leandra Medine aka The Man Repeller doing a Call Me Maybe parody . I really thought it was a masterpiece, definitely the best Call Me Maybe I've seen. Not only that we have a rare chance to see the beautiful Hilary, it was so entertaining seeing them prepped for the 2012 CFDA Awards. If you haven't watched the video, go ahead and watch it now.



And it was until today, that I decided that they might have a major competitor, The Abercrombie & Fitch Guys. Of course it went viral, with almost 9 million views to date.



Which one do you like better? As for me, I swear I can't really decide. Because the fashion world truly cannot have enough "Call Me Maybe" covers, maybe Uncle Karl or Alber Elbaz should do one each.

Summertime

Still experimenting with different types of floral prints this summer , this one is another favorite from H&M.









Being away from Singapore (re: from H&M), I feel so paralized. Guess what, the sheer back knit top is so amazing and it's also H&M.

Balmain Resort 2013

Talk about prints, florals, stripes and diamond checkered, oversized boyfriend shirts, blazers and pastels. Balmain has everything I have always loved. For this 2013 resort collection, Olivier Rousteing added a sweet, fun and happy approach while maintaining the sexy edge style that defined Balmain while under Christophe Decarnin.





















The energy, the optimism, the color, an overdose of talent! Plus, Mr Rousteing is very good looking.

Mulberry Fall 2012 Ad Campaign

Shot by Brit photographer Tim Walker, this season's ad campaign was set in a whimsical English forest. Said to be "an interpretation of dreams and fears" - hence the two furry creatures that feature prominently (and at times, even threateningly) in the background.

I found the idea and the execution so original and interesting I couldn't help to take my eyes off the giant fluffy owl. Kinda looks like an owl, doesn't she? The campaign would mark Lindsey Wixson's third time as the star of a series of Mulberry ads. And to me this is by far the best of all. We have to admit that last season's, 'holiday in the sun' themed set with those ice cream cones was a little too boring and predictable.



First thing's first, it's the oversized Del Rey bag in crocodile debut! Inspired by the American singing sensation Lana Del Rey, this exotic version (pictured below) is really beyond luxurious. And considering the previous bag Mulberry named after a famous Brit It-girl, Alexa - looks like the Del Rey could have an equal chance to go down in handbag history!









Other bags featured in the campaign includes the Maisie (second and fourth image), the new embellished version of the Alexa, the Zig Zag Bag (first image), and the multi-color tweed Lily shoulder with double chain strap (last image) which happens to be my favorite.

Miroslava Duma at Couture Week

With her fellow Russian BFF Vika Gazinskaya photographed above, Miroslava Duma looked so adorable – and at least ten years younger, in this rainbow Christopher Kane Resort dress.



One more thing that I'm obsessed with is her Tom Binns Design Cameo Jobim necklace, which she also wore previously here. I know previously On Pedder had another version of the Cameo necklace, read it on my other post. Can't find the exact design online, but apparently they have the bracelet and earrings version available.

Christian Louboutin Cinderella Slippers

“I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world” - Christian Louboutin.



We might have been aware that Louboutin will be designing his own red-soled version of Cinderella’s iconic glass slipper to commemorate the upcoming release of the Blu-ray Diamond Edition of the animated fairytale classic. The shoes were finally revealed on Wednesday in Paris during Couture Fashion Week at a soiree at the Palais Brongniart and presented alongside images from the making of the original 1950 Disney animated film.

Anyway, here's how it works. The designer will act as Prince Charming, anointing fans with a free pair of the shoes of which only 20 will be made in total. Disney and Louboutin will announce more information on the shoe giveaway Aug. 17. No amount of money can buy them, though - they will not be produced for mass sale. A 10 minute short, titled The Magic of the Glass Slipper: A Cinderella Story, will be featured as a bonus on the Cinderella Blu-ray (Diamond ed.) with Mr. Louboutin making a cameo appearance.



And yes, the glass slipper is not actually glass, instead, Louboutin used lace to give the illusion of transparency as he explains the slight difficulties of creating a literal glass slipper “You imagine it being completely transparent, (made) out of glass, [but] full and classical transparency made into a shoe makes a really ugly foot.” He also explained that using clear plastics “could look very ’60s or sort of punky.” The shoe was then adorned with butterflies and Swarovski crystals, making it perfect for a fairytale moment.

Valentino Couture Fall 2012

It's evident that for Fall, designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli not only successfully subverted the usual DNA of the house, they created prominent couture for the modern woman. Exquisitely crafted gowns, that are pretty, relevant, and actually wearable. Always a fan of their use of sheer in every of their collection.





The show was partly inspired by the painter Gustave Moreau, who, according to the house, was "a lover of dark colors but never painted with black." There are two extremes merged in the collection itself. At times it relies on painted floral patterns, intricate beadwork to create a sense of richness and luxury, and at others the simplicity of long-sleeved dresses in dark, solid colors in sheer fabric which result in a stark contrast.

Louis Vuitton: Yayoi Kusama Edition

It was in 2006 that Marc Jacobs encountered Yayoi Kusama in Tokyo. Art collector Marc Jacobs is a fan of Kusama’s sculptures and paintings: “the obsessive character and the innocence of her artwork touch me. She succeeds in sharing her vision of the world with us.”


And here they are, my favorite items from the collection (clockwise): Monogram shawl Dots Infinity red, Sunglasses Waves Flower red, LV Yayoi Kusama Monography, Coin Purse Chapeau Monogram Vernis Dots Infinity yellow, Yayoi Kusama Louis Vuitton Cuff Dots Infinity yellow, Pump Monogram Vernis Dots Infinity yellow, Lockit GM Monogram Nylon Dots Infinity yellow, and Lockit MM Monogram Vernis Dots Infinity yellow.

No middle, no beginning and no end: this hallucinatory proliferation will also be relayed in the Louis Vuitton windows worldwide decorated with emblematic motifs: biomorphic shaped “nerves” sculptures for windows named “beginning of the universe”; flowers entitled “eternal blooming flowers in my mind” and especially red polka dots on white background among which Kusama figures named “self-obliteration” can be spotted.

The good news is Singapore (Ngee Ann City) will host an exclusive concept store dedicated for the collection which opens on July 13th. The store will be covered with red polka dots, which reflect Kusama’s obsession with the idea of accumulation. These stores will be extremely vigorous and playful with large scales and vivid colours: all in Kusama’s iconic red and white.

Celebs at Paris Couture Fashion Week

It's already Couture Fashion Week can you believe that? Now before reviewing the runway, here are some of the well-dressed celebs attendees worth checking out.



Kim Kardashian and Kanye West attended the Stéphane Rolland Fall 2012 Couture show this afternoon. Taking their seats shortly before the finale, Kim wore a gorgeous Stéphane Rolland Spring 2012 gown. The three-quarter sleeve dress looks absolutely gorgeous, really complements her curve, with asymmetrical ruffled hemline featured a giant cream embellishment on the bodice and shoulder. Kim paired her beautiful gown with Christian Louboutin Bis Un Bout ankle-strap pumps. See how Rihanna previously wore them here.



Actress Milla Jovovich, also in black, looked real sexy in a Versace Fall 2012 dress at the Versace Atelier show. The mini dress with cut-outs trailing the back was adorned in shiny studs. Black heels and a black clutch styled the look.



At the same show, Jessica Alba looked equally gorgeous in an all-black ensemble from Versace Fall 2012.



Another stunner at Versace Atelier, here's Fan Bing Bing rocking a yellow Versace Fall 2012 dress. The short-sleeved mini with sparkly silver panel was paired with black platform heels by Versace and a black Versace shoulder bag and a pair of insanely quirky cat-eye shades.



Jennifer Lawrence joined Marion Cotillard front row during the Christian Dior Fall 2012 Haute Couture show. Apparently they are the only few famous Dior faces to check out Raf Simons' debut collection for Dior yesterday. To her first ever couture show, she opted for the short-sleeve coral floral-printed dress with sharp neckline and flared skirt was paired with beige Miss Dior peep-toe platform pumps.



Diane Kruger - a real Chanel girl - and her beau Joshua Jackson sat front row during the Chanel Fall 2012 Haute Couture show at the Grand Palais. The German actress looked flawless in a denim Chanel Resort 2013 frock. The short-sleeve dress also featured a voluminous flared skirt which creates a feminine yet playful sillhouette. Diane styled her look with studded Pigalle black flats by Christian Louboutin, a metallic Chanel python clutch and a black baret for the French touch.
