Your delicate way

your delicate way

It's been a while since my last outfit post because it has really been such a hectic week for me. I decided to wear something loose today, for so many reasons. I have this love hate relationship with stockings. One day I feel like they are making my legs slimmer, another minute I will feel so chubby with them.

your delicate way

I want to share a beautiful song with you. It's called Rose, by The Feeling. I found out about this song from Burberry Prorsum Spring 2011 runway. With this song, Christopher Bailey had made the sweetest ending of his show.

Armani Exchange Opening: Presenting AX 3D

Yesterday, Armani Exchange celebrate their new boutique at Marina Bay Sands in a very unique way. Instead of a runway show, they display an integrated 3D models making out while showcasing their Fall collection. According to source, "2020/Speed Style" delivers an intense mood of rugged elegance and cool sensuality, where runaway lovers escape from the fiery streets above and take refuge in a mysterious urban underdome, where nothing exists except the seductive intrigue of speed and style.

Milan Fashion Week: Gucci vs Fendi

It's really exciting to see how these collection overlaps. Somehow they are similar, but different at the same time. Look at how Frida and Karl made use of purple, turquoise, and orange. How can I not make a post of 'battle of the designers'?

gucci vs fendi

Fendi combined casual and couture, centered around that fashion favorite, the shirtwaist. Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini, said the clothes were designed for "modern amazons; an intellectual tribe of exotic women, seen through an urban lens."

Their bags are very different. Gucci goes for the exotic bags with edgy and exquisite detailing while Fendi is more playful. It looks like Gucci has won the bag, but Fendi goes with the best accessories. Look at the color combination of the bracelets and the watches. I feel like they are in harmony with the subtle yet lively energy of the bags.

Shoes are always a favorite. For me, its shoes over bags. Then again, I am pretty disappointed with both shoes collection. Gucci has always made the edgiest and statement making shoes for their runway, recall last years' Spring. Fendi has subsequently made the prettiest modern Cinderella shoes made of plexi glass and chiffon. Compared to that, Spring 2011 is more of an understatement from both.

So what do you guys think?

A must have , I would say is tassels belt. Look how beautifully it unites with camel harem pants.

I had a chance to interview Ms. Pamela Seow, the Assistant Manager of Poh Heng. As the interview progresses, I realized how sweet and demure she is.

What influence the collection?

Four different types of women. There is the romantic type, oriental, very bohemian as well as career woman.

What is the must have item for this season?

For early twenties, I think they are very trendy. We see the trends, actually a lot of long chains. They are represented in our Bohemian collection.

Which is more popular, fashion collection or the classic collection?

It’s about the same. It’s hard to say, because classic collection people like to wear it for work, basically in every day basis. The fashion pieces are more to show off during parties and events, you know what I mean.

What has lead you to the Hello Kitty collaboration?

It’s a bit of both. We see the market for Hello Kitty, and Hello Kitty chose us because they find that we are very reputable in the industry, they think that we are experience in design and craftsmanship, particularly for 22K gold. And they give licenses very strictly. You see, there is not much Hello Kitty licensing in the world.

If you could do a capsule collection with any designers worldwide, who would that be?

That’s big question! I guess for very fashion, very stylish collection, I would choose Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabanna for their very Italian style. And maybe for more classic designs, I would say Valentino. I can imagine doing diamonds and pearls and matching it with his iconic red evening dresses. How amazing would it be.

What is the key to success for your company?

For us, having been around for more than 60 years, we would say that it is commitment. Commitment to policy, commitment to design, commitment to trust. We reflect it in our tagline, which is ‘Nothing is quite as precious as trust’.

How does social media contribute to your business?

We have come to realize that social media is very important to us. It enables us to communicate easily with our customers through Facebook and Twitter as well as blogs. People like you are very important to our business. I'm so glad you came.

P.S. this happens to be my first interview with a significant person in the industry. Special thanks to Reene and Gloria from BrandStory for giving such an opportunity.

Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear Collection

While everybody else is doing a full report, I am more interested in sharing to you what I think is chic under my preference. By that, I mean what I personally dig, would die to wear, to own, to touch and feel the fabric.

David Koma

I worship him for combining the low cut front and the asymmetrical bottom. The pattern is not very organized, yet it shows how black and white can sit comfortably together so peacefully. And the white accent placed on the waist makes the dress look firm in a good way. Last but not least, he did an amazing job for perfect fitting.

Holly Fulton

I never thought a simple tube top can complement satin-silk pair of printed wide legged pants without looking like a summery, beach like outfit. Thanks to the statement necklace that lifts up the energy of the ensemble. At last, I expect the mirrored aviators to be in trend.

Mark Fast

I never get enough of body conscious dresses. Especially these see-through long sleeve. It embraces the sexiness, without showing too much skin. To me, it also contains a mysterious enigma, yet it gives an ultra feminine and powerful statement at the same time.

Paul Smith

Very masculine, the boyfriend shirt and the boyfriend trousers. I love the textile of the pants in both ensemble. This kind of reflects my ideal everyday look. Simple cut, in unusual fitting, very spacious, smart, yet not so feminine. Effortless and fervent. Looks like oversized clutch will still have its moments, as well as ladylike pointed toe pumps (recall Prada fall).

Roksanda Ilincic

Every piece in her collection is lightweight, looks like chiffon silk, with lots of draping and twists. My love goes for the cocktail dress, with the most stunning color. I want to feel the fabric that looks so supple, yet gives a gorgeous structured silhouette.

It's all right, just wait and see

Cropped blouse, in blush, acid wash jeggings. Those were quite an ensemble for a Friday coffee break with the girls. If you have read some of my interviews, you will know that I am not the ultra-feminine type of dresser. I don't wear pinks and ribbons. I found it completely true when Karla Deras tweeted: Girly. Worst word ever. Why would I wear something blush then? I can't answer that. Perhaps I have exempted blush.

Blush cropped blouse bought in Far East Plaza, Uniqlo jeggings, Elizabeth and James shoes. I love the back of the blouse. Never thought navy blue and white are perfect match with blush.

Good things come to those who chill

Since everyone is in the mood of leopard prints, name it magazines from Elle to Vogue's fall look book and trends, not to mention My MANy Bags who has just recently put up a leopard background, I managed to snatch my tailored leopard printed blouse. I also had the same fabric made into a cropped sleeveless blouse because I had it in mind that animal prints will always come back in style and it is worth to invest in basics.

I went to watch the movie 'Going the Distance' today and was deeply impressed with it. It was such an incredible movie. It was hilarious, had a killer soundtrack. I just loved every second of it. Drew Barrymore & Justin Long made a perfect chemistry. Justin was always extra romantic, popping up to surprise his girl in the sweetest manner. If you haven’t seen it, go NOW.
