The best looks from Milan Fall 2012

For this season's highlights, I have handpicked the best looks from my top 5 shows. There's something for everyone. The minimalist, the flamboyant, the feminine even the sultry look. Jil Sander was emotional. It's Raf Simon's last collection (he emerged red-faced with tears streaking down his face and a hand over his mouth at the end) and everything looks so in place. From the runway, to the color palette, to the new shapes. With Jil Sander's return to the fashion house she founded in 1968 after an eight-year absence, I can say that there's a lot to anticipate from the minimalist master.

2. Gucci

Gucci is dramatic, as always. Still using the similar silhouette from seasons ago, the collection was pretty impressive. Still loving the sheer black chiffon as a blouse, very chic. As well as the dress below.

3. Dolce & Gabbana

"Italy has one of the strongest traditions in European arts. The understanding, elevation and reverence of this artistic heritage is what lay behind the Dolce&Gabbana FW13 Womenswear collection."

Intricately embroidered dresses and bodysuits are presented based on the central inspiration of the collection: Baroque opulence.

After a couple seasons full of fruits, now flowers are back. Chiffon dresses and separates printed with flower still lifes and cherubs are the most intricate.

4. Emilio Pucci

Sexy but far from revealing. Very classic dresses in black, full length and midi. My favorite so far.

5. Bottega Veneta

Very sleek, modern, sharp suits, tailored pants, Thomas Meier explained his collection:
“The look is covered up and the materials are virtually impenetrable, yet the effect is powerfully physical.”

"Meanwhile, '40s-inspired shift dresses were injected with a modern touch via sliced leather insets and statement prints."

To those who crave ladylike polish with a modern edge.

Marni at H&M press presentation

Photobucket

As you have noticed from my Twitter yesterday, I had the chance to preview Marni at H&M collection. Meaning, I got to try on a couple of stuff and scrutinize the material, plan a budget for my spending. So I had my eyes on this gorgeous mini skirt in a shiny metallic gold fabric with signature Marni floral print. It's going for 159SGD. Very affordable for the quality and material, I would say. Not only that it's one of the more eye-catching items from the collection, apparently it looks pretty 'expensive' too in real life. Photo courtesy of One Sixty Notepad.

If you are not in Singapore, or if you are lazy to queue or just basically can't queue early on that day, good news is that they accept orders— with an additional 50% charge of your total bill. Just drop them a message, tweet or email or whatever. Good luck!

The skirt I want was spotted on Felicity Jones at the launch party in LA last week. What do you think? View my other post on Marni at H&M complete lookbook here.

Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2012

Lily Collins, my girl crush from Abduction, came in a blue embroidered tulle dress by Monique Lhuillier. She's such a darling. The very dreamy, super stunning dress from the Pre-Fall 2012 collection has magically transformed her into the princess of the night. It's almost similar to the recent Fall 2012 dress by Marchesa shown in New York last week, if you can recall. Anyway, she was chilling with Selena Gomez and they shared this very adorable twitpic! And apparently they both dated Taylor Lautner.

Miley Cyrus and Victoria Beckham both look very impressive in light gray gowns. Victoria was wearing her own design (of course). I can very rarely find a well-suited belt for an evening gown, but this dress was perfect. I like her pose in the first picture, showing her huge emerald ring. You know you can't beat something like that.

Claire Danes, Diane Kruger, Kate Hudson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are amongst the red-dress clan. I think Diane's dress is a winner.

And there were TomKat. Katie's wearing Elie Saab. I'm starting to like them more and more.

Still in trend, black sheer gowns. Kate Bosworth in Prabal Gurung and Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton.

January Jones, Elizabeth Banks and Shailene Woodley opted for green.

At last, the hottest female actress on earth, Sofia Vergara in a white, strapless, sparkly Roberto Cavalli gown. Who's your pick?

Crochet

Got my hair colored at Salon Vim a few weeks back and added some blonde streaks. It's pretty much more obvious than before.

LFW Fall 2012: Mary Katrantzou & Peter Pilotto

Most memorable thing about this season's London Fashion Week is to me, the extravagant prints. Mary Katrantzou was my most anticipated show, and I doubted that she will deliver something so similar it becomes boring, but she didn't. Even though it wasn't full of surprises, but I would say it was quite far from predictable. I love the new take on shapes, and pantsuits. Well, not exactly pantsuits.

Okay so she came up with a very intricate dress, made of pencils. Read more about it here.

Is it me or is does the model look pretty short on the last picture? Now let's move on to Peter Pilotto. Their concept appears to be somehow similar, the digital prints and everything, popping colors, anyway to me, I'll take any.

What do you think of the scuba silhouettes? The architecture, cutout panels, fantastic use of fur and square jackets?

I almost couldn’t believe it when I heard the designers were inspired by Asian culture, really? And for the record, best shoes of Fall 2012. I am so ready to wear these gem printed pointed pumps. My God!
